IHH meets refugees at picnic
We brought together refugees living in Istanbul and neighboring cities at a picnic.
Turkey 18.06.2012

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation brought together a number of refugees residing in Istanbul and neighboring cities at a picnic organization. The picnic took place at Arnavutköy Sinekli Picnic Area with the participation of around 2000 people.

The participants included Turkey-based Afghan, Iraqi, Palestinian, Uzbekistani, Caucasian, Somali, Syrian, East Turkistani refugees as well as orphans in Turkey.

Millions of people forced to leave their countries and become refugees due to war, occupation, and natural disasters around the world are living in difficult conditions. These people are striving to survive deprived of most of their basic humanitarian necessities such as employment, food, education, health and accommodation.

Our foundation, which offers every kind of assistance to refugees, brought together scores of refugees at its annual picnic. Holding the picnic on Lailat al-Mir’aj gave a special meaning to the gathering.

Afghan, Iraqi, Palestinian, Uzbekistani, Caucasian, Somali, Syrian, East Turkistani refugees took part in the picnic. The families were picked up in the morning from their homes and had breakfast at the picnic area. Playgrounds were prepared beforehand for the children and they were given presents.

Various competitions and activities during the picnic helped raise the morale of the refugees who had sought shelter in Turkey and were living in difficult conditions.
