The picnic was organized by the IHH on the occasion of the children’s receiving report cards and beginning summer vacation. Various presents were given to 100 children, aged 10-15, during the picnic which was held by the side of Lake Van.
IHH, which arrived in Van in a few hours following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last year, is continuing to carry out relief efforts in the quake-stricken province.
The foundation has so far established 150 prefabricated homes, 388 container homes and around 4,700 tents for the quake victims.
In addition to providing material needs of the quake victims, IHH is also providing psychological support to the children in the region to help them overcome the trauma of the quake.
An IHH team including pedagogues, psychologists and teachers are providing psychological support to the children with various activities, toys and educational materials.
