The IHH is wrapping preparations for permanent social projects in addition to emergency aid works in flood-hit Pakistan. The foundation is starting to construct permanent houses for families who lost
SouthAsia, Pakistan 01.09.2010

Speaking about the project Hüseyin Oruç, member of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation executive aboard, said they would initially construct 100 dwellings then raise the number to 1000.

The 60-square-meter houses will cost $5500 each and will consist of two rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, Oruç noted.

The houses will be built in all affected areas, Oruç informed and will be handed over to families fully equipped.

“We are expecting donations from charitable people and businesspersons of Turkey to complete the project,” he said.

The foundation is also carrying on emergency aid works through aid teams sent to affected areas. Aid supplies to the flood-hit regions are coordinated from the country office in the capital city Islamabad.

Flood victims are given hot food and food items. A sanitation team of 15 medics visits villages in affected regions and treats the injured and epidemic disease patients, and provides medications.
