In addition to working for Qurban, orphan care, water well construction and cataract projects, IHH teams have also begun preparations for activities in the Ramadan month. The teams that commence preparations months before Ramadan are going to carry out dozens of aid activities such as food packages distributions, iftar dinner programs, zakat-alms donations and healthcare assistance.
To decide on what kinds of aid activities will be conducted the teams make assessments of previous project countries as well as new crisis zones. Opening soup kitchen in crisis and natural disaster areas, assisting orphans, providing assistance to tent cities, providing mobile kitchens, offering daily hot meals as well as delivering food aid and providing vocational training in areas suffering from poverty are among aid efforts planned for the Ramadan month.
Another aspect of Ramadan campaign is to select aid volunteers. A team to perform medical check-ups in a natural disaster zone will have doctors, a team to visit regions with high percentage of orphans will have psychologists, while the teams commissioned to report the situation in target regions will have journalists, IHH staff members and volunteers among its members.
IHH is planning to cover 81 countries, including Turkey, in this year’s Ramadan campaign and is aiming to reach out to one million people. IHH teams will be actively involved in aid efforts in 59 out of 81 countries. In 10 countries, including Turkey, the foundation will carry out orphan care projects.
