IHH stands by Van earthquake survivors in Ramadan
Food packages, clothes for Eid to orphan and poor children and their mothers, and cash donations were some of the aid items delivered to Van Province in the Ramadan month.
Turkey 21.08.2012

Aid teams of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation stood by the people of Van in eastern Turkey throughout the Ramadan month and Eid al-Fitr to help local people recover from the effects of the last earthquake.

The teams clothed in Van and Erciş District 1210 children, 1182 of them orphans, and their mothers for the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr and pleased the orphans with Ramadan gift packs.

Another 401 orphan children in Erciş and 781 in Van were offered clothes for Eid. Zakat and Sadaqa al-Fitr donations from our donors were delivered to families in need. All the families of orphans were provided food packages.

Twenty families of orphans that did not have refrigerators were donated white goods thanks to contributions from a donor.

Another 100 families of orphans that were affected by the earthquake were offered by IHH 45 USD each to spend at Eid al-Fitr.

The foundation set up a settlement center in Van, where two major earthquakes occurred, in order to provide the affected citizens with shelter. IHH is also providing health services at all settlements of container shelters with a mobile health clinic and team.

All the children made orphan by the earthquake were included in IHH Sponsor Family System and they are receiving monthly assistance to meet their needs.

Gift packages were given to 10,000 students and were supported with various social aid deliveries to contribute to their education.
