IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation is going to deliver humanitarian assistance to 72 countries and regions as well as 74 provinces across Turkey during 2012 Ramadan. The foundation has launched “Ramadan 2012” campaign with the slogan “Raise Your Good Deeds This Ramadan.” Aid efforts blessed with the Ramadan atmosphere will be carried on throughout the Ramadan period in 72 countries and regions and 74 cities in Turkey. The cost per Ramadan food pack for this year is $40.

As part of the Ramadan campaign, IHH will be delivering zakat and donations of charitable people to those in need in war, natural disaster and poverty-stricken regions.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which has been performing humanitarian aid activities worldwide for the past 20 years, is going to conduct aid activities during Ramadan in 72 countries and regions around the world and 74 provinces across Turkey.

Preparations of IHH teams that will spread across the world to take donations of the charitable to people in need as part of Ramadan efforts bring an exciting atmosphere of hustle and bustle to our headquarters. The IHH teams that will make long trips to five continents will visit needy people, migrants and families of orphans, and deliver to them blessings of Ramadan.

Our donors who wish to strengthen fraternal ties with people thousands of kilometers away will enjoy the peace of delivering their alms, zakat and fitr donations to any region they want through IHH.

IHH has been setting up iftar (fast-breaking) tables and distributing food and food packs for the last 20 years, and will be once again putting a smile on the face of orphans and pleasing families in need. IHH teams who will be dining with their brothers and sisters with food packs in their hands as presents will be living and helping live the joy of Ramadan in all parts of the world, from deserts to mountains and from seas to cold countries.

“I wish good people would never leave us”

A Somali child named Somaya Osman Ali who took part last year in an iftar program organized by IHH in the Somali capital Mogadishu described in the best and purest form the implication of solidarity and brotherhood:

“We have little amount of water for sahoor but it was because we had forgotten to draw some from the well. My mother shared out the water we have to each of us. I am very thirsty but I can bear it because my mother told me that we are invited to an iftar in the evening. I will have my iftar in a place other than home for the first time in my life. I learned that this iftar is organized by the Muslims in Turkey. My mother, siblings and I will attend this iftar altogether. If only my father could have seen it, too. I learned that there will be a large crowd at the iftar tonight. I am very excited. My mother told me that we will also be given food to take home which will be sufficient for us for one month. I am very curious about them. My father used to say that Muslims should help each other. If my father were alive, he would attend this iftar, see Muslims’ helping each other and would become very happy. If only Ramadan never ends and these people never leave us.”

Chairman Bülent Yıldırım: “We are carrying on our global charity move”

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation Chairman Bülent Yıldırım talked about the air of excitement at IHH offices during Ramadan activities:

“Every Ramadan month for the past 20 years we cut long distances short. Drawing power from our past we shared the problems of the distressed and listened to numerous stories. Those stories mostly featured occupation, persecution, desolation and helplessness. We always wanted these stories to have happy endings, we wanted to encourage them. We looked for solutions to people’s hardships and shared our distress and happiness with you esteemed friends. As IHH we have taken a seat for the past 20 years next to numerous needy people who could not afford to have a Ramadan table of their own, set up iftar tents for them, and distributed to them hot meals cooked at our mobile kitchens. We raised our hands in prayers together with our brothers and sisters in five continents for a world where peace and justice prevail. Our foundation is again on the roads just as we were over the past 20 years. We continue with our global charity move with the bounty of Ramadan, with feelings of benevolence, prayers, and determination. Together with our brothers and sisters, donors and volunteers we see this Ramadan as a means to share our happy and sand moments, and our food with fellow Muslims in the world. Those who wish to help and donate through IHH can ‘donate food packs,’ ‘offer iftar meals at our mobile kitchen,’ ‘support orphans financially or distribute to them Eid clothes,’ ‘please children with gift bags,’ ‘send their zakat, fitr and alms donations to the needy via our foundation’ or ‘pay for educational expenses of students.’

As IHH this year’s Ramadan is very special to us, because we are carrying on our efforts with immense experience and background without losing the excitement of our first day, being empowered with the responsibility, maturity and honor of the 20 years we spent with support from our donors, volunteers and benevolent brothers and sisters.”
