The IHH has been working hard since March to prevent starvation crisis in Somalia which is caused by famine from turning into a big disaster. Launching aid campaigns for the region, the foundation takes the donations of Turkish charity givers to the country.

The Turkish nation which does not remain an onlooker to the humanitarian tragedy in Somalia is among the leading nations which have mobilized to aid the disaster-stricken country. The IHH which is trying to meet all the needs of the famine victims in camps such as clean water, food as well as launching projects to make life easier for them permanently has launched preparations to take the donations of Turkish charity givers to the country via a second aid ship.

The 6,000-ton-capacity aid ship is expected to be loaded quickly with donations that will come from benefactors. Via this ship, the IHH will send food supplies such as flour, vegetable oil, milk powder, baby formula, pasta and corn in addition to medicine and medical supplies to Somalia.

The first aid ship sent to Somalia by the IHH set sail from Zeytinburnu Zeport Port in early August. The loading of the second ship will begin on Aug. 22 and it will set sail from Mersin Port.
