The harsh winter circumstances and low temperature making it harder for the earthquake survivors. Cold weather which is strongly felt inside the uninsulated tents makes the children and old people ill. In order to help quake victims live under better circumstances, IHH has completed the establishment of 25 prefabricated houses and 50 winter tents with heat-insulation fabric on a 30-acre land.

An additional 35 prefabricated houses and 32 containers will be in the region within several days and be set up. The foundation plans to set up more prefabricated houses in the region. IHH officials said they expect support from charitable people in order to increase the number of prefabricated houses in Van.

As the installation of the prefabricated houses and winter tents continue inside the Van temporary residential area, IHH holds talks with the relevant authorities to provide infrastructure services to the area. There will electricity in all the houses and tents at the temporary residential area while the residents will jointly use WCs and bathrooms. There will be private WC, bathroom and kitchen in the containers.

IHH will provide basic home appliances and furniture such as a carpet, bed, table, chairs, electrical heater and blankets to the tents and prefabricated houses.

After the earthquake survivors begin to live in the temporary residential area, IHH, which has been taking relief to the Van residents since the very first days of the quake, will provide hot meals to them for three times a day.
