IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, which regularly supports 24,686 orphans across 36 countries through its Sponsor Family System, will pay visits to 23 countries as part of its “Orphan Solidarity Days” which will run from March 16 to 31. During these visits, IHH aid teams will be accompanied by sponsor families, press members, photographers and IHH volunteers.
Making a monthly donation of TL90, sponsor families make a contribution to meeting living expenses of orphans which include their needs for their education, accommodation, healthcare and food.
A total of 139 individuals who will make the visits will develop projects for the orphans in the regions they visit according to circumstances of the region and needs of orphans. Teams from Turkey which will visit 23 of the 36 countries where the IHH carries out orphan relief work will develop projects there while the partner civil organizations will develop projects in the rest 13 countries. A total of 120 projects will be developed for the orphans.
Around 25,000 orphans will benefit form these projects. In addition, as part of efforts to ensure that orphans’ families make their own living, 460 of these families will be given, in line with the circumstances of the region they live, mini stores, micro credits, animals and necessary equipments to do animal catering and agriculture.
Orphan Solidarity Days is an organization annually held by the IHH as part of the IHH’s orphan relief activities. Orphan Solidarity Days, which was first held in 2011, will continue to be held in every March with different activities and visits to the countries where the IHH carries out orphan relief work. Visits to these regions makes it possible to examine the circumstances of the regions where the orphans live, to develop special projects for orphans according to the needs of their region, to develop relations with partner organizations in these regions, to closely inspect and evaluate orphan relief activities carried out by these organizations, to make suggestions to local institutions about orphan relief activities, to strengthen relations between the orphans and sponsor families and charity givers.
In addition to helping develop relations between orphans and aid volunteers, Orphan Solidarity Days which is celebrated in 31 provinces in Turkey and 36 countries and regions across the world, also help attract public attention to the problems of the orphans.
