The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation provided assistance to 570,000 people in Syria in 2023. Throughout the year, the IHH delivered 1,658 truckloads of humanitarian aid, weighing a total of 42,000 tons, to war-affected civilians living in various regions of Syria.
Yakup Işık, the Deputy President responsible for IHH's Syria operations, stated in a written statement that humanitarian aid efforts for civilians in Syria are ongoing. Işık discussed the aid operations conducted in Syria in 2023, saying, "Throughout the past year, we sent 1,658 truckloads of humanitarian aid through the border crossings in Hatay and Kilis to Syria. The trucks mainly contained food, bread, blankets, fuel, clothing, tents, hygiene kits, and various essential supplies. We distributed these materials to families affected by the war in tent cities and various central settlements.
The total number of trucks sent to Syria since 2011 has surpassed 28,000.
Işık emphasized that the aid delivered to Syria in 2023 fulfilled significant needs, stating, "As part of our activities in Syria, we provided humanitarian aid to over 570,000 civilians in 2023. We will continue our efforts in the coming period." The IHH has been conducting humanitarian aid work in various areas within Syria since the start of the civil war in 2011.
