Around one-tenth of the world's population, approximately 700 million people, do not have access to clean water. Drought, rapid population growth, financial constraints and pollution are all threats to drinkable water sources. In many parts of the world, people have to walk for miles to meet their daily water needs.
Construction of 147 water wells is ongoing.
IHH, which has been working for many years to provide clean water, constructed wells in 18 countries in 2025. During the year, the foundation opened 1,009 water wells, including two deep water wells. Construction work is also ongoing on the remaining 147 wells, which began in 2025. Six of these are deep water wells.

The countries where water wells were opened in 2025 are as follows: Afghanistan, Benin, Chad, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Pakistan and Sierra Leone.

The total number of water wells opened by the foundation over 25 years has now reached 16,430 in 44 countries, including the newly opened ones.
