In its official statement, IHH stated that the humanitarian aid activities carried out by the foundation in Syria since 2011 without discrimination of religion, language, race and sect continue uninterruptedly. In the statement, it was stated that the Damascus Office was launched in the new period starting on December 8, 2024 in order to carry out humanitarian aid, human rights and humanitarian diplomacy activities more effectively.
The statement, which hoped that the new office would contribute to increasing peace and prosperity throughout the region, especially for the Syrian people, pointed out the following issues:
“In the face of the humanitarian crisis that has been going on in the region for years, we are determined to fulfill our duty to reach the oppressed and defend their fundamental rights in a stronger way. The Damascus Office will strengthen the coordination of our relief activities on the ground, further expand our humanitarian diplomacy efforts and enable us to reach those in need in the region more quickly and effectively.”
Aiming to increase the capacity of relief activities
IHH's activities in Syria include shelter, food, health, education and social support projects. The Damascus Office is expected to expand the scope of the projects, especially for the reconstruction process.
IHH officials stated that the new office will also increase cooperation with other non-governmental organizations and international relief organizations in the region and called for solidarity for the future of Syria.
With the launch of the Damascus Office, the foundation aims to carry out its aid activities in the region with a higher capacity in a wider geography.
