The Ebola crisis began with the death of a 2-year-old boy in Meliando village of Guinea last year in December, and now the death toll has exceeded over 5 thousand. The disease is currently evident in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. The disease has been detected in countries such as Mali and Nigeria but currently is not a threat.

IHH activities

Within the scope of this project, rice enough for 2,000 people, oil, emergency food supplies and clean water was distributed to 300 families living in the Freetown the Capital of Sierra Leone, Conakry the Capital of Guinea and Monrovia the Capital of Liberia. Due to recent developments and the fact that the economy is not stable many people in the country are facing risks of starvation and fighting against diseases.

However, in order to prevent the spread of the infectious disease Ebola, a number of hygiene and disinfectant cleaning kits consisting of lauryl, usage of apparatus, detergent, mask, gel and liquid soap has been distributed. The virus was first detected in the outbreak in Sudan and Congo in 1976 and took its name from a river in Congo. The natural source of the virus is believed to be the fruit bats in Africa.
