IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has opened the soup kitchen that it started to build in Ramadan in Gaza, which is under Israeli blockade for years.

Humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues as the city remains under Israeli blockade since 2006. Gazans who are facing systematic ethnic cleansing are dependent on humanitarian aid coming in from abroad for their survival.

Mavi Marmara Martyrs Soup Kitchen

IHH managed to raise awareness about Gaza in the international community through various organizations and keeps up its activities in the region without fail. IHH is delivering food, clothing, accommodation aid and healthcare to the needy in Gaza. Recently it built a soup kitchen to serve 2000 people at a time in Gaza thanks to the donations of Turkish businessman Talip Kahraman and his family.

The soup kitchen is set up on 320 square metres is named “Mavi Marmara Martyrs” to commemorate those who were killed by Israeli soldiers in international waters for the freedom of Gaza.

The soup kitchen will prioritize the following in distribution of meals: disabled, widows, hifz schools, and poor families.

Initially the soup kitchen will deliver hot meals for 600 people at certain points five days a week. After receiving necessary supplies it will keep serving to greater number of people at full performance. Hence it will cook hot meals 6 days a week, serve meals to 2.000 people daily thus will have delivered hot meals to 624.000 people annually.

“Regardless of Hardship We Stand with Gazans”

In his opening remarks in the opening ceremony, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation representative Mr. Mehmet Kaya thanked the donors contributing to the project’s funding and said:

“Alhamdulillah we as IHH have been trying to deliver service to Gazans in many areas. We have been working on the poverty, orphans and culture. We are now opening another project that has come to completion and will support our brothers and sisters who have been struggling to survive in this land under blockade over the past 10 years. Hence we will serve our unemployed brothers who are unable to bring their homes food due to lack of jobs and opportunities here. I would like to thank the local grassroots who support us here, who help us in our relief activities for the sake of God and friends of Gaza in Turkey. Last but not least regardless of all challenges we will keep helping Gaza. We will keep standing by Gazans. God willing no one will be able to prevent us from doing so.”
