Somalia which has been suffering from colonization and domestic clashes for years has been hit by a severe drought this year. The IHH, which carries out emergency relief efforts for Somali people, is also realizing projects in the fields of industry, agriculture and education to contribute to the development of the country.

Infrastructure in Somalia as well as education and healthcare services are in a very poor condition due to the 20-year-long civil war and political instability. Carrying out relief efforts in Africa for about 15 years, the IHH has been taking emergency aid to the region since the outbreak of the drought. The foundation, which has had the chance to closely observe the region’s problems over the years, is also carrying out long-term projects in a variety of fields including education and development.

There are many children in Somalia who were orphaned by the civil war or hunger. The absence of state authority in the country makes the situation of these children worse. The IHH is launching the construction of the orphanage complex in order to provide an accommodation and education to these orphans.

The complex which will be established in capital city of Mogadishu will accommodate children who were orphaned by the civil war and poverty. The complex will provide everything needed by the children including their basic needs of accommodation, education and nourishment. There will be separate buildings for boys and girls. The orphanage complex will also have a school, study center, sports hall, policlinic, a supermarket, a water well and a mosque.
