Israel Attacked IHH’s Soup Kitchen in Gaza
Our Mavi Marmara Martyrs' Soup Kitchen, with the capacity to provide daily hot meals to 3,000 people, became unusable following Israel’s attack.
23.10.2023

Our Mavi Marmara Martyrs' Soup Kitchen, with the capacity to provide daily hot meals to 3,000 people, became unusable following Israel’s attack. But we soon established new kitchens at various points and continue to provide hot meals to the people of the Gaza Strip.

IHH's Mavi Marmara Martyrs' Soup Kitchen in Gaza became completely unusable as a result of the Israeli attack. Yet our teams continue to prepare food for the people of Gaza at various points such as schools and hospitals with ingredients recovered from the wreckage of our old soup kitchen. We prepare daily hot meals for 1,200 people at the newly established points and distribute them to the people of the region.

IHH Vice President of Foreign Affairs Department Emre Kaya stated that there was no loss of life among our teams due to the Israeli attack on the soup kitchen.

The attack will not stop our work

Kaya informed that IHH’s soup kitchen was damaged in an Israeli attack and said, "Last week, a part of our soup kitchen was damaged as a result of the Israeli attack. Sadly, our soup kitchen became completely unusable. However, this situation will not prevent us from continuing to stand by the people of Gaza. We have established new food stations in various hospitals and schools in Gaza with the materials we were able to save from the old soup kitchen. Our hot food distribution continues uninterruptedly through these stations.

Israeli attacks on civilian settlements in Gaza continue

The Israeli apartheid occupation regime is currently carrying out intense attacks on Gaza, which has been under blockade since 2007, resulting in many civilian casualties in 2008, 2014 and 2021. Since October 7, 2023, the death toll of the people in Gaza has reached over 5,000, while the number of injured has reached 15,000.According to UN data, the number of Palestinians displaced by Israel’s latest attacks has reached over 1 million.

A great humanitarian disaster is taking place in Gaza in front of the eyes of the world due to the inhumane aggravation of the blockade and imposed by Israel.
