Coming from Japan to Turkey to help earthquake victims in Van and to conduct relief works, humanitarian volunteers Atsushi Miyazaki and Miyuki Konnai had stuck under the rubbles of a hotel collapsed by a new 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Van. The people of Turkey deplored by the loss of Miyazaki, who could not be rescued alive under the rubble despite all the rescue works.

IHH's Işık joined at the memorial service to offer our respect and sympathy.

Along with Japanese officials, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan was also joined at the memorial ceremony that was received broader participation. Selimhan İbrahim Kılıç who attended to the ceremony on behalf of IHH, offered his condolences to the family members, friends and co-workers of Atsushi Miyazaki and offered his wishes for a fast recovery to Miyuki Konnai.

The soup kitchen was intended to provide food to 30,000 people each day.
