According to the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), the number of people affected by heavy rain and floods has exceeded 2.5 million. There are more than 100 casualties while over a million people have been displaced so far. With many areas experiencing water inundation, concerns about the spread of waterborne diseases grow.

Aside from Somalia, heavy rainfall and floods has also hit Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. Millions of people in the Horn of Africa are in need of assistance due to the natural disaster.
