Change in cost of opening water wells
Until the present, with the support of our donors IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has opened more than 7 thousand water wells. As a part of this project we have provided drinking water to almost 2.5 million people all over the world.
25.12.2018

In the “average price “system put into effect since 2016, we determined the construction cost of a water well as 4.500 USD. Since, with the “average price” system we opened more than 2 thousand water wells in 20 countries. With the “average price” system we implemented in countries where we operate, we prevented a concentration in certain countries and regions; we ensured a balanced distribution of the planned water wells according to the needs and capacity of these countries. As a result of this, we opened hundreds of water wells in countries where we were unable to operate due to high costs, but where there was a desperate need for water.

Despite the recent fluctuation in the exchange rate in Turkey, with the support of our donors we are continuing to provide water to those in need. In order to contribute to eliminating the economic difficulties of our donors; secure the continuation of aid and give our donors the opportunity to reach out to those in need according to their financial means, we will be implementing a “dual cost” system. However, for the sake of those in need our main purpose is to maintain the balanced distribution of water wells according to needs in specific countries that we previously achieved with the “average price” system.

In view of the “dual price” system that will be implemented from 1 January 2019, the cost of opening a water well in 10 countries will be 3.500 Euros, and in 3 countries 7.500 Euros. In addition, throughout the year our Special (Deep) Water Well projects will also continue in various countries.

As IHH, we and the local people who are now able to access clean, safe water would like to convey our sincere gratitude for your support. May Allah accept your donations of charity!
