The aid convoy, to which IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation contributed with four truckloads of aid items, moved for Syria after a ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Veysel Dalmaz, who is responsible for coordinating transfer of aid items to Syria, said he hopes the aid supplies will be beneficial for Syrian people who live under pressure and violence and have difficulty in meeting their needs.
Syria crisis desk needs to be established
For his part, deputy Chairman of IHH Osman Atalay said the situation in Syria has gone so worse that it is no longer possible for Turkish civil society organizations to take aid to a total of 20 million people in the country. He said demands for aid supplies and healthcare services grow further in the region every passing day, adding: “The most important thing that we need to do here is to gather Red Crescent organizations and civil society institutions of the Islamic world urgently for a humanitarian aid conference in Turkey. A Syria crisis desk needs to be established as soon as possible.”
Following the speeches, 22 trucks, carrying aid items collected through the efforts of Humanitarian Aid Platform which was established by Turkish aid organizations, were sent to Syria.
