Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, IHH has been carrying out aid activities inside the country. After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, the foundation continued to deliver humanitarian aid to accessible regions.
To meet the bread needs of families living in villages on Turkmen Mountain in Latakia, IHH has been providing flour to a local bakery in the area. Every day, 20,000 loaves of bread are distributed to the Turkmen families. In the past month alone, the foundation has distributed 575,000 loaves of bread in the Mount Turkmen region.
IHH’s Media Officer for Syria Operations Selim Tosun stated that humanitarian aid activities in Syria have continued uninterrupted; "Since the start of the civil war, we have been conducting humanitarian aid activities in all the regions that we could reach. We have never paused our bread distributions. We have not left the families on Mount Turkmen alone during this process. By providing flour aid to a bakery in the area, we are producing 20,000 loaves of Syrian bread daily and delivering them to families. Last month alone, we have distributed 575,000 loaves of bread in the Mount Turkmen region."
Tosun emphasized that the bread is prepared in a way that suits the tastes of the local people. Tosun explained that “We make sure that the bread produced in all the bakeries we operate and support across Syria is prepared according to the taste of the beneficiaries. Additionally, we package the bread in a way so that it can be consumed for a few days without spoiling. Bread production and distribution efforts will continue without interruption."
Since 2011, IHH has been conducting humanitarian aid, humanitarian diplomacy, and human rights activities in Syria.
