Afghanistan 15.12.2014

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation delivered aid to the poor and orphan families in Kunduz township of Afghanistan to help them bear the winter cold.

The unemployment is a huge problem in Afghanistan because there are not many job opportunities. The industry is not developed in the county where agriculture and living stock is also very poor which results in the increasing number of unemployed people. The unemployed Afghan youth seeks out the ways to find job and earn money through risky and dangerous illegal migration to neighbouring or European countries.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has realized a “Wintertime Aid” campaign in order to help the needy families with no income in poverty stricken countries to get warm in cold winter days.

As a part of the campaign, initially poor families in Kunduz township of Afghanistan received firewood and blankets.

IHH Central Asia and Caucasus Coordinator Orhan Sefik said the campaign was much needed to protect the poor families from the cold and make sure that they are not harmed.

“Because there are many children and old folks in these poor families who would easily get affected by the cold, hence the aid campaign was urgently needed” he explained.

WINTERTIME AID TO TURKIC COUNTRIES

As a part of the same project charcoal and winter clothes were delivered to the needy families in Kyrgyzstan. Charcoal and blankets to the families in Kazakhstan and 135 electric heaters were given out to the families in Tajikistan.
