AYDER (Anatolian Association For Humanitarian Aid) volunteers in Konya, a prominent city in steppes of Central Anatolia, the city where Rumi lived most of his life, held a press conference to show their support to IHH’s West Bank representative Izzet Sahin, who has remained under Israeli arrest for almost two weeks.
The Association stated that IHH has set up a representative office in West Bank region of Palestine, fully compliant with law. The press statement mentioned that Israel has arrested Izzet Sahin as an act of retaliation to IHH’s “Palestine Our Route, Humanitarian Aid Our Load” campaign.
The press statement also read: “Neither the international agreements signed by Israel nor the Fourth Geneva Convention (GCIV) and other international agreements allow embargo on humanitarian aid and those agreements provide protection and convenience for the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians during times of war.”
