Governor Izzettin Kucuk, speaking at an event that was organised in the Haliliye Imam Hatip Girls High School gardens, said that a country’s' level of development can be measured by how it looks after orphans and the underpriviledged.

Saying that in recent years Turkey has extended its hands even more so to the elderly and to orphans, Kucuk mentioned how helping the poverty stricken isn't a role just for those in government but that sympathy is something that shouldn't be lost amongst the general population.

Describing how Urfa locals have opened their arms to the Syria refugees, Kucuk said that “Despite that in many regions there have been many complaints about the Syrians, the people of Urfa have embraced the Syrians and have not complained about them. IHH also have shown their best service by protecting them. All non-government organisations, with IHH at the lead should know that we will always support them. Our biggest courtcase is one of humanity. Our goal is to raise our children with strong minds and ideas."

Sanliurfa IHH represenative Behcet Atilla explained that in the city, close to 400 orphans were give monetary assistance and that they have been organising many activities every year.

After his speech, the children read Islamic songs and poems. In the event that included a tug-of-war race, Turkish delight, toys and the Quran were given as part of gift packs to almost five hundred children.
