Syria report presented
A study entitled 'Syria Report: Forecasts, Proposals and Solutions', which was jointly prepared by the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the Cihannüma Association, and the Digital Memory Association, was presented to the public at a special event.
Syria 31.01.2026

Hosted by the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, the program began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by opening and protocol speeches. In attendance were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Musa Kulaklıkaya, Deputy Minister of National Education Nazif Yılmaz, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Syria H.E. Nuh Yılmaz, Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, IHH President Bülent Yıldırım, former Head of Türkiye’s Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, IHH Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Hüseyin Oruç, Chairman of the Support Platform for Palestine Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, IHH Secretary General Ahmet Göksun, Chairman of the Digital Memory Association İzzet Şahin, and Chairman of the Cihannüma Association Selim Cerrah. Academics, civil society representatives and other guests were also present.

The program addressed the current situation in Syria from multiple perspectives. It identified problem areas and shared concrete solutions for the country’s social reconstruction, political stability, and regional normalisation. The report, which synthesized field data, academic analyses and humanitarian experiences, emphasised the resilience of the Syrian people despite ongoing fragility and highlighted new opportunities for international dialogue. The study offered cautious but strong hope for the future.

‘Justice prevailed.’

Speaking at the event, Bülent Yıldırım said:
‘With the will of Allah, Syria has been liberated, and now, with the will of Allah, agreements are being made to ensure unity. A solution is being produced that respects everyone's rights and laws. This was a global revolution and a liberation movement for the people. Why was it a revolution on a global scale? For the first time, a segment of society that was at peace with its community, history and religion has rebelled against oppression and succeeded. This is very rare in world history. Oppression and justice clashed in Syria, and justice prevailed.’

NGOs represent Türkiye's conscience.

Speaking at the event, Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül said: 'We need to consider what a Muslim stance is and what it entails. In this respect, IHH, Cihannüma and similar civil society organisations have become a source of pride for our nation and state, as they have in Syria and other regions of the world where oppression is rife.”
