Taking action for Syria as part of the “Winter is coming… Bread and Blankets for Syria,” aid campaign, Elazığ Humanitarian Relief Association has collected eight truckloads of aid for Syria between Jan. 7 and Jan. 17.
The trucks were sent to Syria after a ceremony at Elazığ Gar Square which was attended by Elazığ Governor Muammer Erol, representatives from Elazığ NGO Platform and the organization committee.
Giving some information about the aid collected in Elazığ, IHH Elazığ representative Metin Kılıç said the “Winter is coming… Bread and Blankets for Syria,” aid campaign has yielded fruits and the aid items collected will be sent to the people in need as soon as possible.
For his part, Governor Erol said he wishes aid collected from the people in Elazığ will help alleviation of the pain suffered by Syrians.
“May God accept donations of the benevolent people. I hope the sufferings of our sisters and brothers in Syria will end as soon as possible and they will return to old days when they don’t need our help,” he said.
The trucks set out after Quran recitation and prayers. Six of the trucks carry flour while two of the trucks carry clothing, blankets and dried food.
The dream of 6-year old Ibrahim Tüser, who is supported under IHH’s Orphan Sponsorship System, to be able to walk, came true with the support of donors.
