In its 4th year, the attack on Mavi Marmara flagship, which was carrying humanitarian aid to be delivered to Gaza under naval blockade, was commemorated with a ceremony in Gaza. Palestinian officials, foreigners and Mustafa Sarnıç, Turkey’s Consular General to al-Quds along with dozens of people attended the event.
Sarnıç left carnations at the coast of Gaza and placed a wrath at the monument erected for Mavi Marmara Martyrs. Addressing the journalists there he said: “We as Turkey will never forget this tragic event. It is a consolation that our Palestinian brothers did not forget it as well.” He expressed his wish that tragedies as such would never repeat again and “May Lord grant our martyrs mercy,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Bahr, Mr Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament of Gaza extended his thanks to the Turkish government and people for their brave attitude. "We would like to thank Turkish people and government and especially PM Tayyip Erdoğan for their efforts and insistence on ending the blockade on Gaza” he said.
