The two-day meeting which was hosted by the Kayseri Humanitarian Aid Foundation was attended by officials from IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation in İstanbul and officials from other relief organizations in Adana, Adıyaman, Ankara, Bursa, Kahramanmaraş, Konya, Sakarya, Şanlıurfa, Bitlis/Tatvan, Van and Zonguldak.
The meeting began with the screening of a film on orphan relief activities. After every aid organization made their presentations on orphans, the discussion of the items on the meeting’s agenda began. Issues discussed by the participants of the meeting included Sponsor Family Project carried out all around the world for orphans, Warm Winter Project, a project planned for the upcoming winter, values education project which will be re-launched with the beginning of the new education year and Orphan Solidarity Days the third of which will be held next March.
IHH executive board member Murat Yılmaz, who made a presentation in the program, said orphans in Syria, Georgia, Nepal, Crimea, Presevo and Jordan will also benefit from IHH’s relief activities and charity givers from all corners of Turkey extend their support to these orphans for their care as part of the Sponsor Family Project. He said the IHH aims to support 100,000 orphans within a period of five years.
Civil society organizations from different parts of Turkey, which carry out orphan relief activities, take part in the meetings which are held every three months. The participants of these meetings make an assessment of the concluded projects for orphans in addition to discussing new orphan projects. The next meeting will take place in Adana three months later.
