Since the holy Muslim month of Ramadan began, aid teams of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation have been reaching out to impoverished people in various parts of the world. Volunteer aid workers with the foundation are delivering donations of people of Turkey to countries in Africa and Asia.  

The foundation is carrying out Ramadan aid activities in 60 countries, including those where Muslims are in minority. Aid teams of the IHH visited Muslims of Sri Lanka, an island nation off the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent, and distributed food packs to poor families and clothes to 50 orphans.  

The island nation of Sri Lanka, named Ceylon in colonial period, has a population of 21 million people with a minority Muslim population of 1.5 million. The three-person IHH aid team organized aid deliveries in the cities of Navdaladi, Huluganga and Deyyannawala. A total number of 425 families were given food packs. Furthermore, 23 orphans in Putalam and 27 in Navaladi were given clothes. The IHH aid workers also visited a number of hospitals and schools in the country.
