Water shortage is one of the main problems in east Africa which is the most drought and poorest region in the world. Many people in the region who walk kilometers of distance in search of water lose their lives due to epidemics as the water they consume contains various harmful bacteria. Considering the fact that living without water is impossible, opening water wells is of crucial importance in Somalia. Opening 340 water wells in Somalia until today, the IHH has received donations over the past month that will afford digging of a total of 636 water wells in the region.

It is known that there is no infrastructure in any of the fields being mainly in healthcare in Somalia due to years-long colonization, drought and civil war. The IHH is carrying out long-term projects in this region where even agricultural and commercial activities have come to a standstill. Considering the fact that a total of 4,000 people benefit from a water well, it is understood that one of the most important relief efforts in the region is opening of water wells.

IHH has opened 340 water wells until today

People and animals die of thirst in Mogadishu and South Somalia where 70 percent of the population have no access to water resources. Carrying on its efforts in these regions despite all the difficulties, the IHH has opened 340 water wells in different parts of Somalia until today. Charity givers who won the prayers of Somali people thanks to their donations have given great support to the IHH’s water well projects in the aftermath of the drought in east Africa which is escalating 60 years later.

IHH receives donations that afford opening of 636 more water wells

Following the outbreak of the drought in east Africa, the IHH received donations from charity givers for opening of water wells. The donations made so far to the IHH are sufficient to afford the opening of 636 new water wells. The water wells opened in Africa are named after their donators. The IHH hopes that charity for the poorest nation of the world will be rewarded in the hereafter. You can also support the water well projects in Somalia which has been undergoing the worst drought of the past 60 years.
