The residents of Erciş are trying to celebrate Eid al-Adha at a time when the impact of the earthquake remains in place. Moral support is offered to residents of the town where children are particularly suffering from quake-related psychological problems. Teams of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation in the earthquake zone celebrated the holiday with affected people and distributed Eid candies and presents to children.
Erciş residents are strengthening fraternal ties by sharing relief materials sent to them at Eid al-Adha, a time when feelings of brotherhood and sharing peak. Workers of aid agencies in the region are also celebrating the holiday with local residents.
IHH volunteers and educator and psychologist volunteers from Özgürder are providing psychological support to children who were psychologically affected by the earthquake. Our teams will be holding various activities in tents to help children spend the Eid al Adha in a good mood.
The teams distributed presents to children on the first day of Eid al-Adha and played games with them so they would forget the earthquake moments even if for a while. The IHH Festival Tent drew interest of children and became a lively scene. Children at the tent tried to color the coloring books given to them by IHH workers.
IHH Orphan Care workers set up an “Orphan Tent” in Erciş to support children left orphaned due to the earthquake. The teams will be offering professional psychological treatment to and will meet all expenses of the 150 orphans.
