Members from the foundation and voluntary charity givers came together for a breakfast at the Antikkapı Restaurant in order to introduce the mosque and school construction project.
More than 1,000 people attended the breakfast and fund-raising event which was organized to collect money to sponsor the project. Among the participants of the event hosted by KİYAD President İsmail Yeşildal and executive board members, there were IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation President Bülent Yıldırım, writer Abdullah Yıldız, KBB Supervisory Board President Süleyman Büyükşahin and Human Resources Department head Osman Ayvazoğlu.
Delivering a speech at the program, KİYAD President İsmail Yeşildal gave some information about the foundation’s projects in Zanzibar.
“We want to construct a 208-squaremeter mosque with water-closets, toilets and a school with five classrooms over an area of 350-squaremeter in Donge village of Zanzibar. When this project, from which 2,500 villagers will benefit, is completed, villagers will no longer have to go to remote villages for Friday prayers. 400 people will be able to pray in the mosque at the same time. A total of 250 children will receive education in the school which will have five classrooms and one office.”
Established in June 2012, KİYAD has sponsored opening of six water wells in Afghanistan, Cameroon and Chad in a short while.
In addition, KİYAD also organizes Qurban campaigns for people in need, provides container houses to the homeless and carries out relief efforts for Syrian people.
