NGOs in Alanya gave their support to flotilla campaign to break the embargo on Gaza by the sea, “Palestine Our Route, Humanitarian Aid Our Load”. Local NGOs ANCED, SEBILAY, VEFADER, Egitim Bir-Sen, Keykubat Association for Education Professionals, Alanya Solidarity Platform established by the members of Diyanet-Sen (a union of Religious Affairs Bureau workers) co-held a brunch program. Osman Atalay and Kemal Ozdal, Administrative Board members of IHH (The Foundation For Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief).
2000 people have attended the brunch meeting held in the schoolyard of Alanya Imam Hatip High, was also home to an auction to support the campaign. Two scarves signed by the Palestinian leader Ismail Hania were sold in the auction.
A representative from ALDAP, Hasan Ilhan, gave information on the activities of their platform. Ilhan also said that a charity sale was held in front of the Municipal Meeting Hall and more than 100.000 Turkish Liras raised through their campaign.
Osman Atalay, member of the Administrative Board of IHH, stated that 8 ships have been purchased so far and they expect to reach 10 ships in total. Atalay also gave the most recent updates on the “Palestine Our Route, Humanitarian Aid Our Load” campaign and the situation in Gaza. The program ended with a prayer cited by Ahmet Hamdi Baspinar, The Mufti of Alanya.
