The IHH and MÜSİAD sent to Gaza a plane load of humanitarian materials and medical equipment as part of a joint aid campaign. A Turkish Airlines cargo plane loaded with 26 tons of relief material worth TL 631,838 took off from Istanbul for the al-Arish airport of Egypt several days ago.
The relief materials will be loaded to trucks and sent to Gaza through Rafah border crossing to be handed to officials of the Gaza Health Ministry. Last reports from the region put the number of the wounded at 4,000. Due to shortage of medication and medical tools 15 percent of the wounded die at hospitals. The relief materials sent will hopefully do away with shortages of medical needs though for a limited period.
Cash donation to Gaza
The IHH handed TL 2.5 million in cash to the Gaza Health Ministry to help rebuild the hospitals that were destroyed during the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Scores of hospitals and ambulances had been hit in Israeli air strikes. Some of the hospital buildings were no longer fit for use and a number of doctors and medical personnel were also killed in the attacks.
