IHH volunteer medics reach Haiti
Three physicians sent to Haiti by the IHH have reached the country after a long journey. Surgeons Ali Alemdar and Girani Yavuz, and emergency physician Ali Yalçın has begun examinations and surgeries.
SouthAmerica, Haiti 25.01.2010

The three physicians flew to Dominican Republic and crossed into Haiti from there. They have joined the international relief campaign launched after Haiti was devastated in a 7.0-magnitude earthquake. They will provide health services such as examinations and surgeries to earthquake survivors.

In the meantime, the IHH is carrying on relief works in the country. Earthquake survivors are being given water and food; 700 orphan children are provided with hot food three times a day. The foundation is looking for a safe building to shelter the orphans.

The quake razed the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince and its environs and killed over 100,000 people, wounding around 300,000. Combined with devastating effect of the earthquake poverty in Haiti has compounded. Haitians are living on external aid arriving in the country. You can help alleviate the suffering of a Haitian with your donations.
