Thousands at Fatih Mosque condemn Israeli attack on Gaza
IHH President Bülent Yıldırım made a call to Israel at Fatih Mosque in İstanbul to stop its violence.
Palestine, Palestine-Gaza, MiddleEast, Turkey 15.11.2012

Israeli warplanes have bombed Gaza, leading to the deaths of 11 Palestinians. Israeli attacks on Gaza continued from the air, land and sea. Ahmad Jabari, leader of Qassam Brigades in the Gaza Strip, was martyred in the Israeli attacks. Following its attacks which targeted Jabari, Israeli warplanes carried out many aerial strikes on Gaza. The aerial strikes were carried out in different regions where government buildings and buildings belonging to the security forces are located.

Haniyeh: We will not remain silent

Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh said his government will not remain silent in the wake of Israeli attacks on Gaza. “If Israel aims to expand the frame of its hostility against Gaza and increase its attacks, it cannot overlook the changes in the Arab world. We will not remain silent in the wake of its attacks on Gaza,” he said.

IHH evacuated its office in Gaza

Palestinian officials said IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation’s office in Gaza is among the targets of the Israeli attacks and requested the IHH to evacuate it urgently. IHH officials have evacuated the office temporarily.

Thousands of friends of Palestine met at Fatih Mosque

Thousands of people held a demonstration in the courtyard of the Fatih Mosque against Israel upon a call from the IHH and many other civil society institutions.

The demonstrators condemned Israel chanting slogans: “Damn Israel, “Israel, don’t examine our patience.”

IHH President Bülent Yıldırım who addressed the demonstrators said: “One person was martyred, thousands of others revived.” Yıldırım said Zionism is a virus which needs to be eliminated.

IHH president also noted that Israeli attacks on Gaza have led to an outrage in Turkey, Egypt and in the entire Islamic world.

“All the dictators who did not give support to the Palestinian cause were overthrown. The same will happen for the dictator in Syria,” Yıldırım said.

“A heroic son of the Islamic ummah has been martyred. We have gone through a very painful day. The martyrdom of Ahmad Jabari in Palestine led to joy for Israel but I would like to underline that one was killed but thousands of others revived. Occupant Israel named its operation, ‘Pillar of Cloud.’ They say they will protect the clouds according to the Old Testament. Nothing has been left to protect you [Israel]. Take a look at the Tahrir Square. Tens of thousands of people gathered there. You go further so that those in the Tahrir Square demolish the Rafah border gate and pass the border” Yıldırım said.

"I am calling out the leaders of Muslim world. The leaders of Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia and others, stop to play a game, it is time to come together. All your peoples want you to act together" said Mr. Yıldırım.

Demonstrators also chanted slogans demanding the closure of the Israeli Embassy in Turkey.

In the meantime, demonstrations were held in many provinces in Turkey, being mainly in Ankara and Konya, to condemn Israeli violence.
